3. FirstRain Personal Intelligence Carousel

FirstRain provides a scrolling carousel containing dynamic snapshot summaries of each user’s specific "favorite" FirstRain monitors (or the initial starter set of "most used" monitors). Each snapshot can be expanded into a larger overlay view with more content from that monitor.

All sub-components, views and actions (carousel of multiple compact snapshots, expanded overlay views, etc.) are framed into a single URL for drop-in integration

The carousel should be dropped into the Salesforce.com home screen using the standard Salesforce admin setup process:

Under "App Setup">"Customize" > "Home" > "Home Page Layouts":

  • Click "Edit" on the desired Home Page Layout to which you want to add the FirstRain Carousel
  • Check the box next to "My Intelligence Carousel"
  • Click "Next"
  • Move “My Intelligence Carousel” to your desired page location
    • FirstRain recommends having the “My Intelligence Carousel” as one of the top 2 items on the Home Page
  • Press "Save"
  • Repeat these steps for all other Home Page Layouts on which you want the Carousel to be visible

You’re done! The FirstRain Carousel is now live to the users that have access to the Home Page Layouts and have been permissioned for FirstRain access.

No additional configuration is needed by the Salesforce admin to personalize the users' views. FirstRain will automatically retrieve the users’ email addresses from Salesforce through the component URL and update their views based on their existing FirstRain account. If a user does not have an existing account, a new FirstRain user account will be automatically created for the user using their email address in Salesforce. The user's customizations will be saved and retrieved from this account moving forward.

Note: Salesforce.com ONLY allows this to be configured by Salesforce admins; there is no personal per-user home screen configuration in the Salesforce CRM system. However, the contents within the FirstRain component are personalized by user; that is functionality provided by the hosted FirstRain component.

4. FirstRain Market Landscape Tab Installation Instructions

FirstRain will provide a page that combines a mix of content views, navigation and personalization controls for users to access:

  • In-depth briefing pages on the Industries and Markets relevant to their roles
  • User-specific, personalized FirstRain monitors, content and actions (my FirstRain monitors, my FirstRain bookmarks, launch a FirstRain search, etc.)

This page has been framed into a Visual force page and put into a Visual force tab called "Market Landscape." To view it, please click on the "+" button on the page’s tab bar and select "Market Landscape" in the tab list.

We recommend putting setting "Market Landscape" as "On" by default for the profiles of the users that have been permissioned for FirstRain access. Here are the steps to enable it for a profile:

  • Go to "Administration Setup" -> "Manage Users" -> "Profiles"
  • Click "Edit" on the profile for which you want to turn the market landscape tab on
  • Find "Market Landscape" in the list and select the option "Default On"
  • Click Save.
